Flowers Care - Wholesale Flowers - Wholesale Flowers - AmazonFlowers.us

When you order flowers directly from the farm, the flowers may arrive looking different than what you are used to seeing in flower shop or supermarket.  This is true whether you are ordering bulk flowers to arrange yourself or whether you are ordering a pre-arranged bouquet.  The reason for this is that flowers sent from the farm are significantly fresher (and will last much longer) than flowers bought at retail. Below you will find a complete easy flower care instruction for our two categories “Wholesale Flowers” and “Wedding Flowers”.

A) WHOLESALE FLOWERS CARE INSTRUCTIONS  by  Amazonflowers.us

Proper flower care begins with the timing of your delivery. We recommend you schedule your flowers to arrive 2 to 3 days before the actual event. Since your flowers will be shipped direct from the farms, you will be receiving them at the same stage as a flower wholesaler. So they will probably look different than you are used to purchasing. After they have been properly hydrated and put into a state of suspended animation, they ship in dry packs (usually). It is NORMAL for your flowers to appear sleepy and thirsty on arrival.

With proper care, they can last up to one week or more. A few hours after hydration, they will perk up and look dramatically different.

Follow these simple steps for maximum performance and satisfaction:

1. Carefully unpack flowers from box by cutting any straps. Remove packaging from the stems, but leave any plastic or paper covering the blooms (be sure to loosen it so they can breathe and not trap condensation). Also leave the rubber bands holding the stems together until you are ready to start arranging flowers.

2. Fill clean containers with at least 3 inches of fresh, cool water. If you can get some floral preservative at a flower shop, that will prolong floral life. As an alternative, you can use some Sprite and a few drops of unscented bleach (6-8 drops per gallon) to inhibit bacterial growth.

3. Remove all leaves that will be under the water level. Remember that foliage should never be in contact with water. Leaves left in water will tend to rot and create bacteria that shorten vase life.

4. Cut stems diagonally about half an inch from the base of the stem with sharp scissors or knife.

5. Immediately after cutting, place the stems in the prepared water. The flowers will drink an exceptionally large amount of water upon arrival. Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate well. Some flowers take up to 12 hours to hydrate fully.

6. Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, heat and air vents, television sets or excessive heat. Generally, the cooler the temperature, the slower the flowers will open and the longer their life. Avoid refrigerators or walk-in coolers not specifically designed for flowers.

7. Re-cut the stems about a quarter inch and change the water every one or two days to keep flowers fresh. Clean the vase.

8. Add water as flowers absorb it, or change it thoroughly.

Special Care Instructions
Roses :
- To maximize the life and beauty of your roses, it is IMPORTANT to follow the previous care tips as well as remove the first layer of protective guard petals. They are normal, and are not a sign of damaged or old flowers. These guard petals were left on to protect your roses during shipping.

- Roses are in bunches of 25 stems, in a two-tier system. If you see only 12 roses at the top of the bunch, don not panic! The others are directly below. Leave the plastic or paper wrap around the heads together until you are ready to start arranging flowers.

- When you arrange the roses, and afterward, feel free to remove any petals that are unsightly. Florists do!

- If your rose bends and looks like it is wilted after using the above steps, remove the rose from vase, fill a small garden tub with water, and cut 1" off the bottom of rose again and totally submerge your rose in water. Shake the rose under water until air bubbles come out of the rose head.

Oriental Lilies & Asiatic Lilies:
As the blooms open, remove the stamens (little pollen sacks) so that they do not stain the flower, furniture, or clothes once fully opened.

Fresh Rose Petals:
With fresh rose petals you will want to avoid two things: (1) Moisture and (2) Freezing Temperatures. We recommend storing the fresh rose petals in a refrigerator. Keep your eye on them since every refrigerator differs in temperature and humidity. Do not put your rose petals in an area of the refrigerator prone to freezing. If the fresh rose petals look as if they are drying out, remove them from the refrigerator and store them in a cool spot out of sunlight and away from heat (such as in the garage or basement) in the box they came in.

B) WEDDING FLOWERS CARE INSTRUCTIONS  by  AmazonFlowers.us

IMPORTANT! - READ ENTIRE NOTICE BEFORE

To guarantee that your Wedding Flowers stay in pristine condition until past your wedding day, read and follow these instructions before attempting to remove any of the arrangements.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Bring flowers inside immediately. Store your flowers between 40F and 60F degrees. The cooler the storage space, the fresher your arrangements will be. However, do not place bouquets or centerpieces in the refrigerator and do not freeze any of the flowers. Avoid direct sunlight and drafts.

Review the Contents of Your Box

When you receive your box, open it and examine the contents carefully. Verify that the contents of your shipment match what is listed on your purchase order. All bouquets are labeled, so you can tell each item apart. Leave all tags on your bouquets until your wedding day.

Please remove the smaller bouquets first by un-wrapping the Velcro. Keep in mind that these flowers are a natural product and therefore, colors of flowers may vary slightly.

Place Bouquets in Water

For the freshest flowers, you’ll want to put your bouquets in water as soon as possible (in containers with about 3-4 inches of water). This may take a bit of advanced planning. Make sure you have enough vases/containers to store your centerpieces, and all of your bouquets. Make sure the water doesn’t reach the ribbons. Add water daily as needed.

Put Boutonnieres & Corsages in the Refrigerator

Upon arrival, remove the boutonnieres and corsages from the box using the directions below. Place them in glasses with water and put them in your refrigerator. Make sure your refrigerator is not set below 35F degrees or the flowers will freeze. Place items away from fruits and vegetables which can release gasses that will age your flowers (keep fruits and vegetables in fruit/vegetable drawers or closed containers).

WARNING!!! DO NOT PLACE BOUQUETS OR CENTERPIECES IN THE REFRIGERATOR

How to Remove Bouquets

When you’re ready to remove your bouquets, please follow these simple instructions.

1) Remove paper wrap and packing material that kept your bouquets protected. You may discard the paper, bag, and packing care material once they have been removed
2) Unfasten the 2 Velcro that holds the bouquet in the box (be careful not to push the flowers against the box).

3) Hold the bouquet firmly by the stems while removing.

4) If your bouquet has a broken or browning flower head, the bouquet will still be OK to use. Please remove the broken or browning flower from the bouquet. The bouquet is still blooming and can be fluffed back into its original shape.

5) If any of the flowers petals have slight browning, this is not always an issue. Our flowers are shipped with guard petals which can be carefully removed. The inner petals should be in better condition.
6) Cut every arrangement half and inch and place bouquets in a vase with water. Please make sure the water level does not exceed where the bottom of the ribbon begins.

How to Remove Boutonnieres and Corsages

Important: All boutonnieres and corsages come with a pin that will be used to place it on garments. Please make sure to keep the pin for use. The Pin can be in the packing box.

1) Remove paper wrap that kept your flowers protected. You may discard the paper and bag, once they have been removed.

2) Unfasten the Velcro straps that holds the boutonnieres and corsages in the box (be careful not to push the flowers against the box).

3) Hold boutonniere/corsage by the plastic water tube/bag and gently pull it towards you (be careful to not have flowers press against the box, which will bruise the petals).

4) Hold the top of the stems firmly with one hand and hold the plastic tube/bag with the other hand. Pull the tube/bag down away from the stem.

Important: Do not pull the flower head from the stem because it may break.

5) Free the flower from the plastic tube/bag.

Important: After removing each piece, cut a quarter inch the stems and place flowers in a glass with water. Make sure the water doesn’t reach the ribbons.

6) Place in refrigerator away from fruits and vegetables as noted above.

7) Do not worry if there is not any remaining water in the plastic tube when you have received your shipment. The flowers have been hydrated before and during shipment.
Store the bouquets in a cool location out of sunlight and away from heat. (To maintain bloom development, keep in refrigeration at about 34 to 36 degrees. This will keep the flowers from opening further. Leaving the flowers at room temperature (between 72 and 75 degrees) will promote natural development of the blooms and they will continue to open beyond the stage at which they arrive.)

ü Avoid touching the flowers as much as possible. Touching the petals may cause bruising that is not immediately visible but can appear as browning or wrinkles.

ü Avoid laying bouquets sideways on flat surfaces as this may damage the outer blooms.

ü Keep bouquets in water until the last possible moment to keep flowers fresh and hydrated.

ü Transport the bouquets in buckets with 1 or 2 bouquets per bucket so the bouquets can be transported upright. If transporting in a vehicle, it is recommended you empty the water to avoid spilling in transit which can damage the flowers and/or the vehicle carpet and upholstery.

ü Do not expose the flowers to heat at any time before the wedding or event (do not leave outdoors or in a car...).

ü Before using, you may trim the stems within 1/2 inch of the ribbon or to desired length for final presentation.
Please follow instructions above

C) WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR FLOWERS ARRIVE  by

Farm direct flowers generally fall into three categories:

  • Flowers whose blooms arrive looking exactly like they will after being placed in water.  Even with these flowers, it may be necessary to hydrate for several hours before the flowers “perk up.”  Flowers in this category include flowers such as Cymbidium Orchids, Gerber Daisies, Mini-Calla Lilies, Hydrangea, etc.   Recommended delivery:  2 to 3 days before event
  • Flowers which open quickly after being placed in water; these flowers will begin to open after being placed in water for 4 hours.  It may take several days to get them to their fully open state. Flowers in this category include flowers such as Roses, Spray Roses, Carnations,  etc. Recommended delivery:  2 to 3 days before event
  • Flowers which require several days to fully open; these flowers may show very little opening after 1-2 days, but rest assured, they will open for you. Flowers in this category include flowers such as Lilies, Alstroemeria, etc. Recommended delivery:  2 to 3 days before event

A note on bouquets:

All bouquets are comprised of flowers which require approximately the same amount of time to open.  Some online flower providers offer bouquets which are comprised of flowers which have markedly different opening speeds and vase life (e.g., Oriental Lilies and Iris in one bouquet).  These flowers may never open at the same time and, as such, may never look like the picture of the bouquet that was ordered.  All our bouquets are designed so that this does not happen.

A note on color:

All our flowers and bouquets are photographed some of them were digitally edit to improve the photo.  All photos that you see here are real representations of what the flowers actually look like but we cannot guarantee they will be identical. One thing to keep in mind about color is that depending on your computer screen settings, some colors may look one way on one computer and slightly lighter or darker on another.  If you have a very specific color need (e.g., you are deciding between two shades of very pure white roses), we are happy to help with the decision.
